The struggle to exercise and eat well is REAL, I know!

In 2013 I left my job in banking to pursue my dream of becoming a primary school teacher. That included 5 years of study, culminating in a very intensive 2-year Masters in Education. I had 2 children during this time while continuing to run my in-person fitness business and setting up the online fitness courses for which I’m now best known for.

Life was VERY busy, and still is, so I really do understand the struggle than many women face on a daily basis to exercise and eat well. However, I do still believe that it is possible and I want to help!

There’s a bit of work in creating this lovely space and movement but it’s worth it. I love what I do here and having all of you move with me each week 💓

New courses starting after the Easter break. DM me if you’d like to be added to the text list for details.

My first reformer has arrived. Happy Mother’s Day to me and god help all of you!😅

To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I have a couple of months of training ahead of me but as soon as I have an update on reformer classes I’ll let you know.

I’ve had so much interest here about starting reformer and lots of questions too so I’ll pop on during the week and answer those.

If you do not plan when you’re going to move your body this week then you are highly likely to fail in doing so. Particularly if you have young children.

Take 5 minutes tonight to decide the what and the when. Don’t overthink it. If you have smallies and you need another family member to be responsible for them then make sure they also record the day and time in their phone (we use the Family Wall App and find it great).

So, for example, you might decide:

- I am going to walk on Tuesday and Thursday at 8am before work.

- I am going to boot camp at 7pm on Monday and Wednesday.

- I am going for a run on Saturday morning while the kids are training.

Find something that works for you and put it on your schedule as a must. If you’re struggling to find something that suits you then DM me for help.

Have a great week and take care of yourself and your health and fitness💓

Game changer 👇🏼

Before I start to tell you about how getting up a half an hour before the kids has been a game changer for me let me first say that if you are in that phase of life where your kids wake up verrrry early then this is not for you! You need the sleep. Please stay asleep!!!

Ditto if you have to be on the road ridiculously early (although hopefully if you do then you get your quiet time while travelling!).

I couldn’t have contemplated this up to about 6 months ago because prior to that my children would wake if I so much as threw my legs out over the side of the bed. No point in getting up earlier if they were just going to get up with me!😅

But things have changed and about 4/5 days of the week I can count on them staying in bed until at least 7 so I’ve started getting up at 6:15/6:20. I creep up to the kitchen, make myself coffee and brekkie and sit down and enjoy my book. HEAVEN!!

I love being a teacher but it involves a lot of talking. As does being a mother and then there’s also the evening chats in Pilates and talking to teach the classes too. It’s a lot, so starting the day with 30 minutes of pure silence and getting to read is lovely.

Doing this has improved my mood so much in the morning. I’m less snappy with the kids and I’m also generally ready a bit earlier too. I hate rushing them in the morning and leaving the house stressed so that’s another bonus.

Just said I’d share this as it might help other mothers (or school staff) who find they’re being launched into the day without any bit of it for themselves. If this is an option for you give it a try. If it doesn’t help then you can always go back to snoozing that bit longer.

Let me know if you give it a try🌸

Looking forward to kicking off a new course this week🧘🏼‍♀️💓

What do women who come to my classes get? The obvious fitnessy stuff like get stronger and improve their flexibility and mobility, but more importantly I provide the space and movement to help them connect with themselves, look after themselves, and catch a breath🧘🏼‍♀️🌸

There’s also usually a chance to have a chat and a laugh with others too which so many women are missing from their busy lives.

There’s something for everyone in my Pilates classes. 16 years of teaching classes means I’ve mastered the art of levelling every exercise to make it both achievable for beginners and challenging for those who are more advanced.

Glute bridge is a typical example of this. Basic with feet down or a serious challenge with one leg extended, everyone can try some version of it.

Keep an eye on my page for new courses of Pilates starting soon here in my studio just outside Portlaoise.

Thanks so much to all the ladies who joined me today for the first Mindful Movement Morning of the year. It was a lovely morning of movement and chats.

I decided that this year I’d like to do more to help some of my favourite charities and so this first morning was in aid of @pathportlaoise 🥰 After donations this morning, as well as those from people who couldn’t make it but wanted to contribute, we’ve raised €300.

Looking forward to the next morning, in aid of @domesticabusels on March 3rd. Places are limited, and some have already been booked, so make sure to DM me if you’d like to join us💕
